The popular ski resort of Thredbo (New South Wales) has Australia's greatest vertical drop and some of the steepest and longest ski slopes, which makes it preferable by the advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders. However, with a resort level of 1365 meters, Thredbo has and runs for beginners. There is excellent accommodation of various types - excellent hotels, chalets, ski lodges and apartments and great amenities for après ski, dining, partying and overall entertainment. The nightlife it really lively and there are around twenty restaurants and several bars and pubs, as well as some cozy cafes.
Thredbo Skiing Holidays
Thredbo is situated in Konsciuszko National Park and has pretty large skiable terrain. The resort’s modern lift facilities comprise twelve lifts giving access of 18000 riders per hour to the ski pistes. The terrain is variable and there are slopes for all capability levels and if you are a complete beginner there is a ski school. Thredbo has one of the most extensive snow making systems in Australia, consisting of four hundred snow cannons, so good skiing and boarding conditions are assured.
Thredbo is a year-round resort and there is a number of outdoor activities, such as mountain biking, hiking, fishing and many more.
One can reach Thredbo either by drive, fly, or by coach. The nearest airport is this in Canberra and there are coach transfers from the Australian capital city. The resort is 5-6 hour drive from Sydney and on seven hours from Melbourne via the picturesque Kosciuszko Alpine Way.
