Ben Lomond is the most popular ski resort in the Australian state of Tasmania, with the main village found at the base of the lift system. Situated in the Ben Lomond National Park, which is fifty kilometers south east of Launceston, it is located at 1573 meters elevation. The ski town provides with complete range of winter facilities and quality hotel accommodation. Ben Lomond has good pistes for beginner and intermediate skiers and boarders, and great cross-country skiing. Ben Lomond National Park is home of the Tasmanian island’s 2nd highest peak - Legges Tor.
Ben Lomond Skiing Holidays
The ski season in Tasmania starts in July and ends in the second half of September. Due to harsh weather during the winter, wheel chains must be carried if travelling around by car.
There are seven lifts in Ben Lomond - 4 Poma and 3 T-bars lifts. The resort’s skiing area includes eight trails spread over ninety-nine acres of mountain terrain: 40% for Beginners, 50% for Intermediates, and 10% Advanced skiers and snowboarders.
Ben Lomond provides its visitors with excellent skiing, boarding and cross-country skiing facilities. One of the preferred by many tourists’ accommodations here is the Ben Lomond Creek Inn, which is the highest hotels on the island and is open all season.
